Why Pandas Soccer?

The Pandas Soccer Program strives to inspire the human spirit of the student-athlete by connecting like-minded and talented student-athletes dedicated to learning, discovery, and citizenship across the sport of soccer. Student-athletes in the Panda Soccer program are those embrace learning and discovery as well as involvement in the community and partnerships across the University. The Pandas Soccer Program seeks those soccer leaders who are committed to individual growth in an environment of excellence with soccer as the medium.

The Pandas play in the Canada West University Athletic Association (CWUAA), a conference that has notable results in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) with its CIS Gold medalling (CWUAA - 16, OUA - 7, AUS - 5, QSSF - 1). The CWUAA is a challenging and rewarding league in which to compete.

The University of Alberta Pandas soccer program has a history of team success dating from the first CIAU/CIS National Championship in 1987. The Pandas have won nine medals at Nationals - three gold (2001, 1997, 1989), three silver (2002, 1999, 1996) and three bronze medals (2013, 1994, 1991, 1988) and were consolations champions (2011, 2005). The Pandas have also excelled at the conference level, winning seven titles since 1988 (2013, 2001, 1999, 1997, 1996, 1991, 1989, 1988), earning three silver medals (2011, 1992, 1990), and eight bronze medals (2010, 2009, 2006, 2003, 1998, 1995, 1994, 1993). The team has finished first in CWUAA league standings (2010, 2001), second (2013, 2011, 2006, 1999, 1998) and third (2003) and earned the CWUAA Prairies Champs Title in its inaugural season.
