Butterdome Cup Ball Girl Procedures

Getting Started

Please gather at the main entrance (on ground level) of theButterdome, University of Alberta, (Van Vliet Complex, University of Alberta, Edmonton, 116 St & 85 Ave, Edmonton, AB T6G 2R3)a minimum of 20 minutes before kick off time (ex. 1:30 for a 2pm game). Wear your team gear (everyone in jerseys or training kit or tracksuits to look sharp). There will be a Pandas Greet Team (PGT) waiting for you and they will brief your team on the procedures below.

Pre-Game

15 minutes before the game start time, the teams begin their warm-up. By 10 - 15 minutes pre-game, the goalies will start their warm-ups. The girls should split themselves evenlybehind both nets and “shag”(get the balls) balls for the goalies. This will give them a chance to watch the warm-up and practice getting the balls for the game. The Pandas will return to their benches 2-5 minutes prior to kickoff and your team should place themselves around the Butterdome field at this time.

First Half

Get involved! Please space yourselves equally around the field and behind the goals so you are to catch the balls quickly if they can and hand it to the player for the throw-in or goal kick. If the ball gets past you, please replace ball at the centre flag, or behind the net as required.

Half-time

Relax and re-join. The half-time is only 5 minutes. This is a great time to go to the bathroom, reconnect, and have a few laughs.

Second Half

Get involved! Please space yourselves equally around the field and behind the goals so you are to catch the balls quickly if they can and hand it to the player for the throw-in or goal kick. If the ball gets past you, please replace ball at the centre flag, or behind the net as required. At the end of the game, please return the 5 game balls to the table at centre.

Post-Game

Join the team in the locker room for an autograph signing!

The team will debrief the game with a post-game talk (about 10 minutes) and we’d love for you to come into the dressing room be able to see the players and ask questions. Feel free to bring anything you’d like signed (as well as a pen!).
